You should not bathe your dog at all unless it rolls into unspeakable 🙄🤭 if it rolls into the unspeakable - we recommend using Chris Christensen shampoo for a coarse coat. You can buy it on Amazon. The dog’s age doesn’t matter
Cairns have a weather-resistant double coat that cleans itself. The shampoo will ruin the quality of their coat. Regular bathing also causes skin irritation and many other health issues. So please don’t bathe the dog unless you must.
‘But what if my dog smells?!’
This will help:
1/ Brush with a soft pin brush daily
2/ Hand strip your dog (join our live class to learn how to do it)
3/ I tend to use the above-mentioned shampoo maybe once every few weeks to wash only the dog’s belly and legs. Rinse well -
We recommend starting hand stripping from the age of 3-4 months.

The ideal cadence is every 2 weeks to keep Cairn coat in the best condition. Never shave the dog, do not use scissors or hand stripping knife

To do a food transition, you need:
1-2 days, mix 80% old food and 20% new food
3-5 days 50%/50%
6-7 mix 20% old food and 80% new food
After 1 week the dog can eat new food (if no runny poop)
